It should not surprise us that foreign words, such as Turkish, Sanskrit, Russian, Italian, Latin, Armenian, Persian, Arabic, Kurdish, Georgian, Venetian, Slavic, English, Bulgarian, Albanian, etc., have infiltrated the Pontic Dialect.
This was reasonable to happen, since Pontus, due to its geographical location and its natural resources, was a crossroads of peoples and a place of economic activities.
Nevertheless, the Pontic Dialect maintained its connection with the ancient Greek language, of which it is undoubtedly a legitimate daughter, as is clearly demonstrated by the listing of the relevant words.
