Translating AMLET, I often believed that this Shakespearean tragedy could be titled as follows: Hamlet, behold the man.
Hamlet hesitates, doubts, wavers, procrastinates, but never for a moment considers resignation or inaction. He struggles, but does not retreat; often his behavior reveals a confusion about what needs to be done, but he quickly gathers himself.
His fluctuations do not constitute cowardice. On the contrary, they demonstrate a comprehensive contemplation about the demand he is called to serve. Shakespeare, as the greatest poet, seizes the opportunity through the hero Hamlet to create a character onto whom he projects almost all human traits, all the virtues and weaknesses of the human being, all its merits and all its passions.
