Description

Description

The seminal work of Karlheinz Deschner in a 10-volume series covering the period from the end of antiquity to the 12th century.

In the Criminal History of Christianity, crimes that have been committed beyond institutional and religious barriers are recorded, spanning the entire spectrum of state, ecclesiastical, and social life of Christendom.

The historical description includes the consistent connection between so-called secular and ecclesiastical power, as well as the consequences of this connection for the peoples: criminality in foreign policy as well as in agricultural, commercial, and economic life, the spread of ignorance and superstition, interventions in education and culture, censorship, exploitation of sexual morality, marital and criminal law.

Deschner also addresses the criminality of the clergy, as it manifested over the centuries with private enrichment, the bargaining of positions, the worship of miracles and relics, etc.

The series includes:

  • The Criminal History of Christianity 1: Early Years
  • The Criminal History of Christianity 2: The End of the Ancient World
  • The Criminal History of Christianity 3: Ancient Christian Church A
