The AT897 from Audio-Technica is designed for outdoor recordings, in cinema, television, video production, professional recording, wildlife recording, and broadcast applications. It easily mounts on a DV camcorder without adding noticeable extra weight, and stays out of the frame, even with digital cameras (DSLR). This high-performance short shotgun offers excellent long-distance pickup due to its narrow pickup angle with line & gradient design. It also features smooth, natural on-axis sound, sound quality, and excellent off-axis rejection of sound arriving from the sides and rear of the microphone.
