The enthusiastic reception that the reading public gave to the "Summary of Criminal Law" (Volume I: 2010, Volume II: 2012), the continuous new reflections that engaged the author's interest and necessitated their incorporation into the entire doctrinal system of the General Part of Criminal Law, the need for continuous supplementation and renewal of the material, and especially the rapid developments in recent years in legislation, led to the necessity for a new, updated, and modernized edition under the title "Criminal Law - General Part." The edition is structured in two volumes.

The first volume covers the teaching of Crime (act, omission, intent, negligence, liability from the result, injustice, culpability, reasons for relieving injustice and culpability), including also the special forms of its appearance: attempt and participation. The second volume covers all issues concerning Punishment. In contrast to the first volume, the reforms introduced by Law 4619/2019 in the content of Articles 50-133 of the Criminal Code are radical.

The reorganization of the limits of imprisonment, the redefinition of the punishment of detention in a special facility for young offenders, the introduction of the institution of community service as the principal punishment, the abolition or conversion of certain accessory penalties and security measures, changes in the rules for sentencing, the reorganization of mitigating circumstances, and the differentiation of the method of sentencing in cases of aggregation of reasons for reducing the punishment create a completely new image of criminal law. This image is what the second volume of the General Part of Criminal Law aspires to critically record.

At the beginning of each chapter, the relevant Greek literature is exhaustively presented, while selective references to the main foreign language sources are made in the appropriate place. One of the main characteristics of the work is the complete presentation of the case law of the Supreme Court and the most important related decisions of the substantive courts. In this way, the General Part of Criminal Law addresses not only those who approach criminal law with theoretical interest but also the practitioners of law.
