  • If you want to install a motion-sensor bulb in a light fixture with a glass or plastic cover (e.g. a wall sconce or ceiling light), don’t get the classic infrared (PIR) bulbs because the glass blocks the signal and they won’t turn on. This particular Geyer bulb has a RADAR (microwave) sensor and works normally through glass, so the fixture stays closed and looks good.
To stop people accidentally switching off the wall switch and leaving the bulb without power, try the “Alex Hack”:
    1. Turn off the main breaker/fuse for safety.
    2. Remove the switch and disconnect the wires.
    3. Permanently join the wires (live and switched live) together with a terminal block (or Wago), so the fixture has a permanent power supply.
    4. Push the terminal block deep into the box and screw the switch back on top so no hole is visible and the wall looks factory-finished.
Once you turn the main breaker back on, the bulb will calibrate for 20 seconds and then work 100% automatically, only in the dark and only when you walk past. You save money on electricians, expensive systems, and ugly strips over the switches!
