The fundamental principle of Islamic theocentric cosmology is the belief in "tawhid": there is no god but Allah. The principle of "tawhid" is the main conduit from theory to practice, from faith to life, and from ideal to reality in the holistic Islamic worldview.

In correspondence with the challenge of globalization against the nation-state system, the key issue for the Islamic political establishment seems to be the reinterpretation of its political tradition and theory as an alternative global system, rather than simply as a program for the Islamization of individual nation-states. Therefore, the proper understanding of the theoretical foundations of Islamic politics and their worldview reflections in Muslim history will be crucial.
