In the land of football and sad girls, Corto faces the Empire of three thousand brothels. The word Tango appeared even before the dance itself. During the previous century, the world spoke and wrote about tango referring to three different things.
- There was the dance of black slaves also called tambo, because its rhythm was taken from the drum.
- The Spanish, Andalusian tango which we find in zarzuelas, those operettas or musical comedies (like La Revoltee).
- Finally, the tango of the Río de la Plata in the 1890s.
The first musical expressions of tango also came from the Cuban habanera as well as from the Creole milonga (Gabino Ezeiza and Santillan). Another influence is linked to the new wave of immigration from Italy which, after overcoming xenophobic reactions, managed to mix with the local Creole element, thereby giving birth to a new urban music culture: the
