How does an electronic blood pressure monitor measure pressure?

Electronic blood pressure monitors measure pressure using the oscillometric method. With the oscillometric method, the size of the vibration caused by blood as it flows through the arteries is measured. This vibration measurement is then converted into numbers (e.g., 120/80) through an algorithm of the monitor and displayed on the digital screen.

To ensure the accuracy of the measurement results with this method, it is required that the monitor used be clinically certified for its accuracy. All AVRON monitors are clinically certified and approved for their accuracy and reliability.
