Description & Specifications

With an impartial description of events as a compass, and aiming to record historical truth for future generations, the author detailed the period of 1940-45.

Using sources from literature, but primarily testimonies of ordinary people and key figures involved in the events, the author describes the cycle of violence and bloodshed that became decisive during that historical period and the subsequent political developments in Greece.

From the Metaxas dictatorship and the persecution of communists, to the epic of '40, the occupation, and the resistance. The power vacuum of the occupation and the inherent resistance of the Greek against the occupier opens a field of action for individuals and organizations.

Differences in starting points and final goals lead to civil conflicts, concentration camps, rural terrorism, and the Security Battalions. The liberation brings the greatest confrontation of ELAS with the Security Battalions in southwestern Peloponnese, which causes a tremendous loss of life and opens new accounts of blood, which the world of EAM/ELAS/KKE will be called to pay after Varkiza.
