Οι αθλητικοι ναρθηκες για άτομα με ''σιδεράκια'' έχουν ιδικό σχεδιασμό με απαλοιφή εσοχών ωστε να μην γίνει αποκόλληση των ακυλιων κατά την ένθεση και αφαίρεση του νάρθηκα. Ενας απλός νάρθηκας σαν αυτό έχει πολύ μεγάλο ποσοστό αποκολλησεις των ακυλιων και τραυματισμό τόσο των δοντιών όσο και μαλακών μορίων κατά την διάρκεια Πάλης.
