  • Type

    Telephoto

Telephoto lenses offer optical zoom that allows photography from a distance. Lenses with a focal length of 80-135mm on full frame, 50-75mm on crop frame, and 120-180mm on medium format are ideal for portrait photography as they allow photography from a medium distance and flatter the subject's features. Larger focal lengths are used for wildlife photography, sports events, and generally for all subjects that require a greater distance.

  • Mount

The type of mount that the camera body must have in order for the lens to be fully functional when attached to it.

    2. Some lenses can be used with older mounts from the same manufacturer, sacrificing certain functions (e.g. autofocus), or even with mounts from other manufacturers using an adapter.

  • Item

Lenses with variable optical (zoom) that remain equally bright (same maximum aperture value) throughout the entire focal distance range they offer. Usually significantly more expensive than their variable aperture counterparts.

    Fixed Focal Length

Lenses with fixed optics are usually of higher quality than a corresponding zoom lens at the same focal distance. They are also called "fixed" or "prime" lenses.

  • Sensor Type

    Full Frame

Photographic lenses designed for use on full frame sensor cameras. A full frame lens can also be used on a crop frame sensor camera, but with its focal length adjusted according to the corresponding crop factor.

For example, a full frame lens with a focal length of 50mm (standard) on a camera body with a crop factor of 1.6 will function with a perspective as if it were an 80mm lens (telephoto).

The reverse does not work as the optics of a crop frame lens are not sufficient to cover an entire full frame sensor, resulting in the edges of the frame being black (severe vignetting).

  • Maximum Aperture (f)

Opening the diaphragm determines the amount of light received by the camera and affects the depth of field.
    2. The most open aperture of a lens is called the maximum. The more open the aperture (smaller f-number), the shallower the depth of field.

Description

The Viltrox AF 24mm F/1.8 Z is a wide-angle prime lens for Nikon Z cameras with a full-frame sensor. Its f/1.8 aperture makes it easier to shoot in low-light conditions and allows you to control depth of field. The optical construction includes low-dispersion, aspherical and high-refractive-index elements to reduce aberrations and distortion. The HD Nano coating reduces reflections and ghosting, while the optical elements help render point light sources clearly during astrophotography.

The STM motor provides fast, quiet and precise autofocus, with manual focusing available at any time. Internal focusing keeps the lens length constant during use. The aperture ring has an A position for automatic aperture selection by the camera, while the nine-blade diaphragm helps produce smooth background blur. The USB-C port allows firmware updates.

Fast AF, lightweight, good rendering. On a Z5 it makes a very handy travel package that doesn't disappoint even in difficult, dark spots.
