The work was probably written in the early 3rd century AD. Two friends of the author, Caecilius and Octavius, have a discussion about Christianity, which results in Caecilius converting to the new religion. The curious thing is that there are no references to the person of Christ, nor to specific doctrinal teachings of Christianity, except for the end of the world, the resurrection of the dead, and retribution.
