Description

The Vipow 12 V / 0.8 Ah UPS Battery Creator uses gel batteries, which are an alternative to traditional lead-acid batteries. Gel batteries are waterproof and do not require electrolyte topping up. Their sealed design and gel electrolyte provide greater leak protection, allowing them to be mounted in any position while increasing their resistance to shocks.

Battery Life: Gel batteries are known for their long lifespan. Proper handling can ensure operation for several decades. Additionally, they show greater resistance to changing and extreme weather conditions.

Self-Discharge (25°C): Gel batteries can be stored without charging for several months. Their capacity decreases as follows:

  • 91% after 3 months
  • 82% after 6 months
  • 64% after 9 months

Choosing a Gel Battery: It is important to select the correct capacity, which should not exceed 110% or be below 90% of the recommended capacity for the device being powered. Additionally, the output voltage should be very close to the recommended (+/-0.2 V).

Applications: Gel batteries are used in motorcycles, golf carts, and lawnmowers, as well as in UPS, photovoltaic systems, security systems, and electric toys. They can also be found in vehicles with multiple electrical devices, such as campers, and are used to power electronic devices, not for starting the vehicle.

Gel Battery Charger: To ensure proper charging operation and prevent damage to the battery, the charger must have the appropriate current and voltage characteristics. It is preferable to choose an automated charger that adjusts the charging current and voltage and stops when the battery is fully charged.
