Description

Description

Although the presence of diversity in the school environment is now a subject of concern both in Greece and internationally, and the co-education of all students is highlighted as a crucial issue, the challenges that arise in the school context regarding the management of various forms of diversity are increased, especially when they coexist. Children and adolescents with cultural peculiarities, who also have some form of disability, constitute a population that has not been sufficiently studied by scientific research until now, resulting in these students being marginalized in the school environment. The complex relationship between ethnocultural diversity and disability emerges and takes its rightful place in the chapters of this book.

For the first time in Greek literature, children and young people from this particular minority group are approached from multiple perspectives. The experiences of bullying they face in Greek mainstream schools are examined, while the causes of their victimization and the factor of diversity that weighs more heavily on the occurrence of this serious phenomenon are sought. This book provides a new perspective on a serious problem that educators have faced and continue to face in the classroom. Additionally, it contributes to the connection of the scientific fields of Intercultural Education, Special Education, and Pedagogical Psychology, highlighting the need for their collaboration for a better understanding of the characteristics of diversity among these students and the provision of conditions for the implementation of co-education.
