It should not surprise us that the Pontic Dialect has absorbed foreign words, such as Turkish, Sanskrit, Russian, Italian, Latin, Armenian, Persian, Arabic, Kurdish, Georgian, Venetian, Slavic, and English.
It was to be expected since Pontus, due to its geographical position and its wealth of resources, has been a crossroads of peoples.
Nevertheless, the Pontic Dialect has maintained its connection with the ancient Greek language, of which it is undoubtedly a legitimate daughter, as is clearly demonstrated by the presentation of the relevant words.
