Regarding the size, I got them a bit larger than my usual size (I wear 40 and got 41⅔) and I think they are a bit more comfortable than necessary. However, even if I had taken the 40, I think it would have been a bit tight. I will try them on the mountain and get back. At first glance though, it seems like a very sturdy shoe!
