The book "From the Life of Old Athens" by the well-known Athenian chronicler and historian Kostas Chr. Hatzios constitutes a collection of nine studies covering various aspects of Athenian life in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The annual periodical publication of the "Association of Athenians," "The Athenians," served throughout its long existence (1955-2014) as an exceptionally interesting source of memories and historical retrospections about old Athens. Hundreds of articles were published in this remarkable magazine. Many valuable memories of old Athenians preserved pages of the city’s history that would otherwise remain unknown and, inevitably, forgotten and lost over time.

In this precious archive of the historical memory of old Athens, eight brief studies on various Athenian topics were published. These studies make up the content of this small book. They are reprinted in their entirety, as they appeared in "The Athenians," with only a few later additions.

In addition to the publications in "The Athenians," a speech by the author is included from the halls of the Association of Athenians on November 19, 2014, marking thirty years since the death of one of the most genuine old Athenians, Petros Kyriakou.
