Description

Description

The course of Modern Greek Language and Literature serves as the means for shaping the basic language structures and achieving language awareness for students. Through the understanding of linguistic phenomena and the enhancement of their reading skills, they comprehend the linguistic choices of each author, interpret texts considering the communicative context in which they are produced, and, at a final stage, produce their own texts.

In this context, the present book aims at the substantial engagement of students with the linguistic phenomenon both at the level of interpretation and at the level of text production from the first grade of high school. It establishes the linguistic foundations of the children from the beginning of their high school journey, so they can easily meet the requirements of the Subject Bank and, mainly, the Panhellenic Examinations. This book treats language as what it truly is: a living organism.

It avoids the ineffective recycling of a grammatical metalanguage that ultimately leads to superficial knowledge. Instead, its readers delve into how morphological and syntactic choices interact with the communicative situations in which they operate. Through applications and numerous exercises for each taught subject, the educator who teaches language courses delves into the new demanding data of the course and accurately guides their student towards mastering them. The first volume of this work presents in detail the theory of Language and Literature, while the second volume consists of 27 Student Assessment Criteria, in their new form, according to the latest proposals of the Institute of Educational Policy and the requirements of the Subject Bank.
