I was born in a place full of persistent shadows. I grew up in an era filled with persistent shadows. These shadows never stopped following me, until they became part of my psyche.

It is precisely here that the roots of my systematic engagement with engraving lie, the quintessential art of shadows. The autonomous expression of colors that characterizes painting does not exist in engraving, where black and its entire range of gray dominates, printed on white paper. Color in engraving is primarily limited to descriptive references and crucial, yet complementary, interventions.

This is evident in many of my engravings.
