Description

The strong and fleshy leaf breathes while fluttering. We are close to mercy, but how can we touch each other with hands wrapped in the bandages of despair?

And if it weren't for the white page, you would be utterly defenseless. Dimitra Kotoula's third poetry collection, starting from the whiteness that surrounds and, as silence, co-constitutes the poetic page, focuses on the almost healing ability of words, especially in demanding times.

The two sections of the book deal, explicitly or allegorically, with the need to remain, even in dystopian conditions and existential threat, persistent, participatory, generous - ultimately creative. Thus, illuminating the meeting with the fundamental, the poems function organically as a cohesive whole that questions, reflects, and tests the limits of poetic language: the role of poetry as mental nurturing and social action.

“Dimitra Kotoula can undoubtedly be considered one of the most authentic and original poets to have emerged in recent years.” Torsten Israel, Balkanische Alphabete. Griechenland

“With her maturity gained very early on (in her two collections she has condensed an entire universe), Kotoula shapes a poetic system that manages to return to the collective through perhaps the only path that our time can open towards this direction: a focus on an individuality that will not cease to direct its gaze to others and the world, no matter how many bridges and accesses have been demolished.” Vaggelis Chatzivasileiou, The Books’ Journal
