This volume was created by decision of the General Assembly of the Department of Social Policy at Panteion University to honor the Emeritus Professor and founder of the Department of Social Policy at Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences, Dimitris G. Tsaousis.

Its aim is to highlight his significant contribution to the field of social science and higher education in general, his research and writing work, mainly during the period of the Metapolitefsi, when the transformations of national institutions created a different reality within the framework of the operation of the Greek democracy.

His contribution was particularly important in the introduction, cultivation, and establishment of sociological science at a time of minimal presence or even absence in the Greek academic program and, even more so, in the tools for designing public policies.

Today, as social sciences and the development of social research in our country tend to be regarded as unnecessary expenses, we need to draw from the scientific courage and tireless and multifaceted spirit of academic sociologists like Dimitris G. Tsaousis.
