“In this book, there are my narratives about Stelios Kazantzidis, Kostas Virvos, Panagiotis Tountas, Giannis Papaioannou, George Zambetas, Pythagoras, Vasilis Tsitsanis, of course, Rosa Eskenazy, Apostolos Kaldaras, Anestis Deliya, Manolis Chiotis, Christos Kolokotronis, Tasos Chorelisis, Dimitris Christodoulou, and Alekos Sakellarios.”

Fifteen figures who played an important role in Greek music, in all its forms: rebetiko, laiko, entechno laiko, archontorebetiko, and light music. What has been written so far about these artists is not much. I believe that my writings fill significant gaps.

Finally, I drew the title of the book from the song itself, which is particularly provocative and certainly encompasses most of the composers and singers I mention. Composers and singers who, due to their profession, were both “tough guys” and, with the police, often did not have angelic relationships.” L.P.
