Description

The vineyard of Argyros Estate is ungrafted and located in Episkopi Gonia, Santorini, at an elevation of 35-150 meters, oriented east-southeast. The vines are shaped in the traditional kouloura. The area of cultivated vineyards amounts to 260 acres, with a yield of approximately 350-500 kg of grapes per acre. Harvest takes place from August 10-25.

P.O.P. Santorini.

It is the oldest wine in the range of Vinsanto of Argyros Estate. Essentially, it is a Vinsanto with 16 years of aging, intended to replace both the 12-year and the 20-year versions. It combines the complexity of the latter with the liveliness of the former. Assyrtiko, Athiri, and Aidani come from very old vineyards in Episkopi, at least two centuries old, specially selected for this style.

The harvest is done later than the usual harvest date for dry wines, yielding dramatically low outputs. The grapes are sun-dried for about 14 days. This is followed by natural fermentation and about three years of aging in old cement tanks, while the additional aging lasts sixteen years in oak barrels.

An intense, complex wine with remarkable depth that takes your breath away. Ready to enjoy from the moment it hits the market, while time literally does not affect it. The final yield for this wine approaches 60ml per square meter of vineyard.

First of all, it is NOT white (the color is chocolate). Second, it is THE BEST GREEK WINE (regardless of category). It is not a wine for appetizers and parties but a dessert - something like a liqueur - (accompanied by dark chocolate, dried figs, raisins, etc.)
It costs 22 euros in supermarkets but when Robert Parker gave it a high rating, its price skyrocketed (sly Silver). A lot of money for 500 ml, right? No problem. Get Vinsanto Santo Wines and you won't miss anything at all (unless you have a pointer nose). Try it. It's an experience.
