The AirTag is an incredibly easy way to track your belongings. Attach one to your keys and another to your backpack. And just like that, you can find them in the Find My app, where you can also track your Apple devices and locate friends and family.

A "ping" and you found it

Lost your wallet? If you have connected the AirTag, no problem. You can play a sound on the built-in speaker from the new Items tab in the Find My app. If it's hidden somewhere nearby—like under the couch or in the next room—just follow the sound and find it.

    Cold. Lukewarm. Warm. Hot.

If your AirTag is nearby, your iPhone will lead you directly to it with Precision Finding. You'll see the distance to your AirTag and directions to locate it, all thanks to Ultra Wideband technology.

Ask for a little help from hundreds of millions of friends.

When you've forgotten something far away, like at the beach or the gym, the Find My network, which consists of hundreds of millions of iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices worldwide, helps you locate your AirTag. And of course, it's designed to protect your privacy every step of the way.

With the loss function, you can find lost items even more easily.

Like other Apple devices, the AirTag can be put into lost mode. Then, when detected by a device on the network, you will automatically receive a notification. You can also set it up so that someone can receive your contact information by tapping your AirTag with an NFC-enabled smartphone. This is the same technology that allows users to make payments with their phones.

    Built-in privacy.

Only you can see where your AirTag is. Location data and history are never stored on the AirTag. The devices that transmit the location of your AirTag also remain anonymous, and location data is encrypted at every step. So even Apple doesn't know the location of your AirTag or the identity of the device that helps you find it.

    Wonderfully simple.

Setting up with a simple touch instantly connects the AirTag to your iPhone or iPad. Give your AirTag a name, attach it to the item you want to track, and you're ready. Want to receive AirTag notifications on your Apple Watch as well? No problem.

I will only tell a very short story:
Owner of an SH Mode scooter, the bike parked outside my house, without a chain, without any protection at all, and on September 21, 2023, at noon, I went to get it and it wasn't there. Luckily, I had placed an AirTag under the seat and when I checked Find My, I located it in Agios Dimitrios (I live in Paleo Faliro). I went to the location where it had last been detected, walked around searching, and found it parked outside a house, with a deviation of 50 meters from the location it showed me on Find My. I called the police, they came, confirmed that it was indeed mine, I explained how I located it, and at that moment, all 4 police officers ordered their own AirTags too!!! We retrieved the scooter, made a report at the police station, and returned home!
Sorry for the length of the text, but the narrative was meant to show how a €30 item saved my property. I was very lucky that they didn't open the seat to see it and throw it away, but without it, I would have never found the scooter.
Whether it's worth buying, I leave it up to your judgment.

If you are getting it to find your stolen car, forget it. The thief is notified on their phone that an airtag is moving alongside them, they can make it emit a sound and find it, and they can turn off the bluetooth. And it’s an expensive product to have just to find your keys if you forget them somewhere and ONLY IF someone with an iPhone passes by. Other than that, it’s a good product. They started well from what I read, but because thieves were hiding them in cars to track them, the notification was added so that the owner can detect that their car is being monitored by an unknown airtag. We are not saved.)

I don't think the AirTag is worth its money, even though I have been using Apple's ecosystem for years. Today it showed the item 800 m–1 km away from the actual location, and only after a refresh did it get closer to 200 m. If it can't provide a reliable location when you need it, it loses much of its usefulness.

It does its job, but personally I expected a slightly better response in location updates. There are times when it is slow to refresh the position or not as immediate as I would like, especially if you compare it to what you expect from an Apple product.

Also, it is quite annoying that it can be easily detected by another iPhone user nearby, which in some uses significantly reduces the discretion one would expect.

On the positive side, the battery lasted about 1.5 years without replacement, so I was quite satisfied with its autonomy.

The battery lasts at least a month and a half. It helps me find lost keys. However, it has one drawback: it relies on nearby iPhones to send its location, so when there are none nearby, the location is not updated
