Description

Description

Fishing reel from Daiwa, suitable for jigging, shore jigging. It features 6 bearings that facilitate the movement of the main shaft. The reel's drum rotates with a gear ratio of 5.7:1, which means that for one complete turn of the handle, the spool will make 5.7 rotations. The reel can hold 300m of 0.33mm thick fishing line, and if a thicker line is used, the capacity in length decreases. It is made from carbon, a lightweight material with great strength and durability.

At a glance

New generation BG Monocoque designed by Daiwa for a 100% waterproof gear system, significantly increasing their lifespan.

  • Spool: Aluminum
  • Bearings: 6
  • Weight: 635gr
  • Drag: 15kg
  • Retrieve Speed: 5.7:1
  • Line Capacity: 0.33mm/300m
  • Braid Capacity: 0.28mm-300m
  • Suitable for: Jigging / Shore Jigging / Heavy Casting
  • Handle: Aluminum Monobloc
  • Retrieve: 110cm
  • No external anti-reverse
  • Tough Digigear gears
  • ATD Carbon drag system

Daiwa Technologies

Automatic Tournament Drag (ATD) Brake System

  • It stands out for its high-performance Automatic Tournament Drag (ATD) braking system, which provides greater resistance at the beginning and more progressive action afterwards.
  • It operates immediately and applies the selected power to the spool, without any delay when starting its rotation.
  • It thus provides instant control of the operation and provides maximum resistance, while offering better protection to the fishing line and thread.

Air Rotor Technology

The tubular profile in Daiwa reels with Air Rotor technology:

  • It is not compact, allowing air movement between all rotor components. This prevents the accumulation of foreign bodies such as water, salt, sand, dust, or moisture that can cause corrosion.
  • It is 15% lighter than conventional rotors. This reduces weight while increasing line distribution uniformity.

HardBodyz

Special aluminum alloy that makes the body and mechanical parts rigid.

Digigear II

The digitally designed gears (DigiGear) ensure perfect alignment in the collaboration of the mechanical parts of the drive shaft, offering speed, power, durability, and combine seamlessly with Air Rotor technology, where the compact rotor allows air movement between all components.

Monocoque Body

With Monocoque technology, the body of the BG is a rigid and inflexible tool that is simultaneously easy to use, disproportionate in size compared to its power. It provides stability in its operation, perfect synergy of all its mechanical parts, and allows the use of larger gears.

Its waterproofing is excellent and is another advantage of the Monocoque body.

Significant reduction in the weight of the mechanism, but with an increase in its strength, has been achieved through Monocoque Body technology. The "Monocoque" frame is a new proposal, mechanically designed, symmetrical body.

Monocoque Body Technology

Twist Buster II

The new design of Twist Buster technology reduces the friction of the line on the roller and minimizes "twists" by up to 90%. The Twist Buster II system directs the line in a specific direction, with the rollers featuring a special cone that forces the line to "twist" in the opposite direction of the spool's movement during retrieval.

Cross Wrap

The Crosswrap system:

  • Prevents line twist around the axis.
  • Allows for better line exit during casting phases.
  • Helps avoid problems with line tangling and twisting.

ABS II

The unique design of the inverted cone on Daiwa's rollers results in fewer twists and tangles of the line, as well as longer casts. However, they also have a larger size than other rollers, resulting in faster retrieval speed and better brake performance.

HardBodyz

Special aluminum alloy that makes the body and mechanical parts rigid.

Double Infinite Anti-Reverse

Limits the reverse movement of the handle to zero, for better "hooking" without shaking the mechanism and without releasing even the smallest amount of line.

Digigear II

The digitally designed gears (DigiGear) ensure perfect alignment in the collaboration of the mechanical parts of the drive shaft, offering speed, power, durability, and seamlessly combining with the Air Rotor technology, where the compact rotor allows air movement between all components.

Silent Oscillation System

The Silent Oscillation technology is considered one of the most fundamental technological functions in the mechanisms of the Japanese company. It provides superior rotational flow of the mechanism and exceptionally quiet operation.

This review is about the size: 4000

Very beautiful mechanism, good ergonomics and comfortable in how it sits in the hand. Very smooth in the retrieve due to the large gear and for spinning I would give it 5 stars if it cost 50 euros less, as at the price levels of, for example, a Stradic FM, there is no reason for someone to choose this mechanism. Since I used it once and only for light shore jigging with lures of 20-30g, I have to say that the smoothness has been lost since the first fishing... at the same time I have a Nasci 5000 which I used for this job and it hasn't been affected as much even though I've used it several times... the Zync cast gears are just fine and keep the cost levels low, but they will never be cold forged aluminum, nor of course steel, like the Slammer IV DX which is also priced around there... Therefore, it loses one star for the price it costs and one for its gears, since Daiwa has remained on this issue somewhere around 2016...

This review is about the size: 10000

Although it is a large-sized reel, it conceals its weight and bulk due to the MQ technology. Visually, it is flawless and there is no room for criticism. The initial resistance is lower than that of the Saragossa SW, which I also use for fishing, and it has power in the rotation without tiring. However... at this price point, all its serious competitors come with better quality gears than the cast zinc material that Daiwa has used here... With cold forged aluminum for the Gosa and the fully steel internals of the Penn Slammer IV DX, we get, it is true, a better overall reel than the BG MQ without a significant difference in price... for me, it is a foul by Daiwa, because it undermines its name here and along with it, an amazing reel in appearance and functionality...
