The work aims to illuminate two main aspects of Armenian education in Athens. Firstly, it seeks to explore its role in preserving Armenian ethnic identity.
It then examines the relationship of Armenians with their language and, by extension, the bilingual curriculum of the Armenian Children's School. The latter implements the interesting educational practice of early introduction of the first reading and writing of the Armenian language in kindergarten.
The book examines the reasons, motivations, and effectiveness of this choice, despite the challenges posed by the heterogeneous student population of the school. The highlighting and study of this educational model is particularly important, as it can enrich the scholarly dialogue regarding the appropriateness and the way to introduce bilingual school programs.
