This review is about the colour: Beige

    23/4/25
I put in different interconnects (which I had and are much better than the previous ones), the speakers connected excellently and sound like one. I forgot the "s" because everything is much better now and there is no such issue (simply, as we said, the speakers are more revealing and less forgiving, so some sound imperfections do not go unnoticed) and the only "problem" (in quotes of course) of the speakers is the unreal clarity and definition. Our ear is not used to such a clear delineation of sounds. That is, it is hard to accept such incredibly clear and defined sound. In the end, yes, as all the tests say, these speakers are something special and unique. And it would be good to listen to them without the covers.
    24/5/24
The speaker has settled quite a bit so the conclusions are as follows: the "s" that sounds like "th" only exists when it is in the recording, simply so bright and up front that it is and with such an enthusiastic tweeter (which to be honest, puts the woofer a bit in the background, that is, if it played a bit lower at least, its sound character would be different and more balanced - anyway, it is obvious that the company wanted this sound), it reveals it much more than other speakers and you have to accept it, because, anyway, the speaker does not forgive and does not hide it at all - but generally, it has a bit (or even more than a bit) of sibilance and you should take this into account (here I will also say that I do not understand the reviews that talk about "tonally, nicely judged speakers with sweet treble that has still plenty of bite", which I do not see to be the case - the speaker has of course musicality and melodiousness, but it is not sweet and forgiving but lively, energetic and revealing and does not hold back). Sometimes I played it without activating the source direct of the amplifier, which was an alternative to play softer (and it really worked, give it a try), but at the same time I realized that the sound was somewhat altered and I lost something in clarity, liveliness, perhaps information, but particularly timbre.
Of course, you should know that with the right cable everything can come to our liking, as I did with some Boston CS 26 MK II (yes, I have some of those too), which had a very sharp treble and made the "s" sound like "th", and everything disappeared with another (softer) cable and the speaker plays wonderfully and I would say that its sound is among the best, that is, it matters what you play each speaker with (machines, cables, etc. - after all, the sound in hi-fi is largely a matter of matching).
Anyway, generally, this speaker is a category of its own. I don't know if there is anything else comparable on the market.
Now I have returned to the Spektor 2, and on one hand my ear has sweetened, on the other hand I will miss this incredible clarity and revealing nature of the Oberon, and the funny thing is that the Spektor which seemed very bright to me, compared to the Oberon is not bright at all, but compared to other speakers it is indeed brighter. On one hand, I went to something wonderful and more relaxing, on the other hand, I lost that unreal clarity and definition of sound.
So if you want dali, for a good budget small speaker, you choose and get the wonderful spektor 2 which, among other things, does not tire you at all, is more bass-heavy and full, and is also easy to match, but at the price it has now they are shamelessly robbing you because it is much cheaper in reality or the more expensive (i.e., another price category) oberon 1 with its unique liveliness, and the sparkling, crystalline clarity and precision, but which has a tendency to emphasize the "s" if not combined with, at least, the appropriate cables to calm this enthusiasm of it, if this is a problem for you of course, because it might also excite you. The only other speaker that comes to my mind, from those I have tried - that is, one that is truly worth it - in the price category of the oberon 1, but much larger in size, is the excellent q 3030i (another speaker of course with more volume and bass, but also a completely different approach to sound).
    12/5/24
Because I read in the review of another fellow buyer that there is more "th" than "s", I decided to pay better attention and indeed I noticed something like that in several cases.
Since no review mentioned this thing, I decided to investigate it and listened to specific tracks, in comparison, from another speaker and from the oberon.
In the end, I think that what is heard in the oberon exists in the recording, but in other speakers, less revealing and bright, it is not as noticeable and although it exists, you pass it a bit "under the radar" (anyway, I found a track where in the other speaker the "s" sounded better, it had a peak that changed it from "th", while in the oberon there was no such upward peak).
Perhaps this brightness in the mid-highs, the accuracy and the revealing nature of the oberon makes it more noticeable or maybe something else, I don't know at this moment. That is, the oberon may not be so forgiving and you hear everything. WHEN THERE IS NOT AT ALL (or almost not at all) IN THIS RECORDING THIS DEVIATION OF "s" TOWARDS "th", THE OBERON DOES NOT GIVE IT TO THE SOUND AND IT SOUNDS PERFECTLY (anyway, it has a tendency for sibilance for now - I don't know if it will decrease or go away later - for me, even if it exists, it's no big deal, the world hasn't ended).
So I will wait for the speaker to break in well, to "loosen" the drivers completely, maybe this phenomenon will soften and the speaker will become more forgiving, because there is really nothing else you can say about this amazing small speaker, which when you "feed" it with good recordings (and not only) and from good equipment, you can't believe your ears.
Anyway, personally, I am clearly interested in a speaker that does not expose too many imperfections in recordings, even if it is the best in the world.
So let it break in completely and we will see again, but if it remains it will be something disappointing, because otherwise the sound is crystal clear and the speaker is a small miracle that "pins" you to the music, you don't just follow it as an observer.
And also, congratulations to Spyros G. for noticing and mentioning it.
I hadn't paid much attention at first because I thought that with the speaker still tight, the sound would definitely be tight too and it was early to notice every detail, e.g. To like the highs of the Spektor 2, it took quite a bit of listening time, so for how good and extensive the highs of the Oberon are, I will let some time pass to decide - however, I think I disagree with Spyros G. on one point; I believe that the tweeter has a bit more "metal" than I would like, it is very enthusiastic and although it contributes a lot to the fun factor (every listening session is a lively experience, it's like an adventure "a la" Indiana Jones, with a dose of exaggeration of course), it needs to relax a bit for things to go even better (and it may be quite responsible for the issue with the "s").
    -------------------------------
I couldn't resist the temptation and bought them even though I had promised myself that I wouldn't buy another speaker. I got them for around 352 euros, one of the lower prices that occasionally appears on the market.
I don't think I will write too many words (although I ultimately didn't avoid it).
Straight out of the box, without any break-in, you get shocked.
Here the phrase "crystal sound" gains its true meaning.
    Unreal clarity, sharpness, and detail.
For their size, they have good bass (i.e., they don't leave you unsatisfied, without of course being able to overturn the laws of physics and without Dali insisting on getting as much bass as possible from such a small speaker, but who cares about such things with such sound), the high frequencies are wonderful and I left the midrange for last, which, according to Dali's custom, is bright and stunning, with an amazing timbre, i.e., beyond any criticism, and generally their sound makes the sound of other speakers seem colorless, "black and white," and indifferent.
Everything is so clear, crystalline, with very distinct boundaries and space they occupy, with excellent placement in the room and a three-dimensional feel that leaves no room for any complaints.
They are definitely in a different category from the amazing Spektor 2, which I will say once again are sold at an unacceptable price now, and the only thing left for me to understand is which has more emotion in the sound (i.e., the emotional element, something in which I believe the Spektor 2 are unsurpassed), which I am too lazy to do now (but I will do it someday, classically, with "hard to thrill" from the album "the road to escondido" of the collaboration between J.J. Cale and Eric Clapton).
My only objection is their cover, which is not a frame with a cloth, but a single cover with honeycomb holes in front of the speakers, something I believe rounds off and somewhat blocks the sound and is not magnetic for easy removal and repositioning.
Ultimately, the audio magazines that have tested them are absolutely right to consider that they clearly play above their category.
For me, a small (due to size) miracle. Incredible. Speakers that truly connect the listener with the music, conveying its message. You forget everything and listen.
They are not the kind of things you appreciate and generally like; they are those with which your relationship is a love relationship, adoration.
This is the second time I write this after the Spektor 2, which, although they are clearly of a lower category and have their weak points, e.g. a bit more than it should in the upper mid-lower highs and generally they do not have that incredible clarity and definition that is of another level, the balance, the homogeneity, the coherence, and the air of superiority of the oberon, where nothing is anything less than exceptional, perhaps you can love them more because they have some weaknesses, they are more mortal (and definitely more forgiving - a very serious thing, while in our case "nothing is hidden under the oberon" which will reveal everything to you) and many times you love something more that has its weaknesses rather than something perfect.
Right now I am a bit obsessed with the oberon but definitely, probably soon, the time will come when I will remember the amazing spektor again, which may also prove to be more comfortable, and it doesn't mean that I forgot them because I got the oberon.
    P.S.

When I received them, I expected the courier to bring me the other box, with the second speaker. There was no second box! Both speakers were packaged in this small box! They are such small speakers! And while you would expect speakers of this size to lack in low-frequency reproduction, their bass is incredibly extensive for their size. That was the second surprise! They also impress with their ability to disappear from the listening space and produce three-dimensional sound that extends beyond the dimensions defined by their placement. The room fills with musical instruments and voices. The midrange is not forward or bright, it is presented with just the right amount of body. The unpleasant surprise is the higher frequencies, which are overly rounded and lacking in some recordings. They are poor in both quality and extension. More plastic than metallic. More "th" than "s". However, some things justify their low purchase price. Average highs and imperfect finish are, in my opinion, their only drawbacks. Their lows, the quality of their speakers, their effortless placement even when hung on the wall, and the three-dimensional sound reproduction are characteristics of higher-priced speakers. With a small compromise in the aforementioned areas, their purchase is considered excellent. Even if they had double the cost, I would still consider them a good purchase. I highly recommend them! Excellent clarity, very good with voices, they require good bases. Somewhat pronounced highs but not annoyingly so. They play 25cm away from the wall, with Denon PMA 1510, Marantz CD 6006 with DAC Chord 2Qute. Purchase price was 250€

It could cost much more! Solid construction, high-quality finish, and connectors with the screen! Crystal clear sound with top-notch midrange and treble. Bass as needed, and an amazing guitar, you feel like they are right next to you! Loudness & Source Direct On. (Not always, of course) The speakers play with the Denon PMA-520 and the real cable spvim250.... Perfect combination of these 3!
