The hand-crafted, staggered Alnico 2 micro-magnets and the medium-wound coil (made with special Heavy Formavar® wire) produce a warm, melodic tone with a more natural string oscillation for exceptional sustain.

The APS-1 allows players who prefer distortion through the amplifier rather than the pickup to pull back the "grit" for a beautiful, clean tone with a softer attack. Compared to the SSL-1, the APS-1 has a rounder sound, with a more "gentle" response in the low frequencies.

It features wax-coated cloth wires and a vintage triangular base.

Application: True vintage reproduction of single-coil tone. Recommended for country, pop, surf, rockabilly, blues, ska, and classic rock.
