Carl Czerny was an Austrian composer who was born in Vienna in 1791, the year of W. A. Mozart's death. He was introduced to music at a very young age, taking his first piano lessons from his father, Wenzel Czerny. Czerny came into contact early on with the greatest musicians of his time. His acquaintance with Beethoven, as well as with Clementi, helped him develop his piano technique. Among his most important students was Liszt. Czerny experienced the transition in piano art from the style of J. S. Bach – C. Ph. Emmanuel Bach (and later Haydn and Mozart), to the style of late Beethoven and Chopin, that is, the transition to the virtuoso playing of the Romantic era. He undoubtedly contributed to this transition himself, both as a teacher and as a composer. The book "30 New Studies In Technics Op. 849" is a combination of six books, each focusing on the development of different skills. For over 100 years, this collection has remained one of the most popular.
