The black marketeers, being numerous, ended up forming a new social group of nouveaux riches by the end of the Occupation, strong enough to claim a share of power; moving between parliamentary Right and fascist Far-Right, black marketeers positioned themselves, either by founding small new parties or mostly integrated into right-wing parties, and played a role in the evolution of post-occupation and, even more so, post-civil war spectrum of right-wing political power.

In the first months, the government of Georgios Papandreou proceeded with the abolition or simply the deactivation of some of the main repressive mechanisms of the 'Right-wing state', while it began, albeit timidly, the dissolution of paramilitary organizations. Where Georgios Papandreou hesitated to proceed radically was in the military. His political hesitance regarding the military expressed his fear of coming into conflict with the Palaces.

The last ten years of the history of the Greek state are not yet easily readable from a scientific point of view. Therefore, whatever is said here is a demand for essayistic discourse rather than scientific research by someone who lives the events and tries to interpret them.
