The publication "Skirts" of Renaissance type in Chios (16th century-early 20th) offers a folkloric contribution to the typological approach of local costumes. The author, Ms. Nadia Maha-Bizoumi, assistant professor of Folklore at Democritus University of Thrace, highlights the ties of the Cultural Foundation of Piraeus Group with the island of Chios, where the Mastic Museum of Chios is located. The publication documents and examines the formation and evolution of women's clothing shapes (pleated "skirts") that prevailed on the island, especially due to historical influences, and in connection with the corresponding shapes of the broader Aegean area.

The work incorporates systematic research that includes museum collections, bibliographic sources, and oral testimonies. Specifically, it focuses on the short, white pleated "skirts" of the Mastihochoria, which are influenced by Renaissance women's attire, primarily that of Genoa. Aspects of the research examine home-based production and the processing of fabric, in relation to the local economy, consumer habits, and the role of women's labor.

The typological classification focuses on the costume ensembles of the Mastihochoria and specifically on the villages of Pyrgi, Kalamos, and others, depending on their geographical location, as well as on the costume ensembles of the Northern Villages such as Volissos, Kardamyla, and Amades. Through the typological approach, a presentation of the pleated "skirts" is made across different social classes, which adopt varieties of this garment.

The publication includes photographic material that iconographically documents the study and highlights the costume peculiarities of Chios, the significance of the cultural heritage and the material culture of the island in more recent years.
