Description & Specifications

Seachem PhosGuard is a porous aquarium filter media suitable for use in a canister filter, media chamber, box filter, or another area of the filter with high water flow. A filter bag is recommended, positioned so that water can pass through the media without it folding over on itself.

Before use, rinse and pre-wet with twice its volume of fresh water; heat may develop on initial contact with water. The dosage is 85 mL per 200 L of saltwater or 400 L of freshwater. After 4 days, check phosphate or silicate concentrations. If the concentration of the substance you are targeting has not reached approximately 0.02 mg/L, replace the media; otherwise, leave it in the filter until levels begin to rise again. As long as concentrations remain under control, the media is not exhausted.
