Being a completely satisfied owner of two PowerA controllers for quite some time now, I can say that once again the company did not disappoint me. At first glance, it seems to be a quality construction (as always, time will tell), and the controller is compatible with almost everything! It supports DirectInput AND XInput (which personally benefits me a lot because I regularly play many old games on PC - DX9 era and back, connecting it wired to the PC works in DirectInput mode but holding down START+SELECT switches between DirectInput and XInput), it has a switch that allows you to choose between Bluetooth or USB connection mode, in Bluetooth mode it recognized my Nokia 8 Android smartphone in 2 seconds flat (so don't be scared by the box that says "for Samsung"), I didn't have to remap buttons on any emulator I have (PPSSPP, My Boy, etc.), everything worked perfectly right away.
In my opinion, the two great advantages that the company's controllers have and surpass the competition are the following: firstly, the friction rings (there are two hard plastic rings in the notches of the two analog sticks that provide extra protection against wear and tear of the plastic analog stick when moved in a circular motion - I have actually noticed over the years that the analog sticks on my POWERA controllers are not as "worn out" at their base) - and secondly, a very big advantage for me are the two extra advanced gaming buttons (mappable) on the back of the controller, in the grips. You can assign any button you want to them, but I discovered that if you map these buttons, immediately after purchasing the controller, to the "button" function that the sticks have when pressed (LS and RS), you protect your controller from the scourge of their category, the cursed stick drift! (either they never experience it, or if they do, they experience it after years) stick drift is directly related to how much one has "worn out" the LS and RS... if you buy any controller that has extra mappable buttons, do this and you will remember me...
The controller also has a built-in power bank (!) which even has an on/off switch and can be used either to simultaneously charge your phone while playing or to provide power to the controller (more information in the user manual, it explains it nicely and simply, but it's not available in Greek).
The only significant negative thing I have found so far is that unfortunately the controller does not have vibration function! This is not something that bothers me for mobile gaming, but since it is compatible with DirectInput and XInput, I will definitely miss it there...
At its regular price, which it is now, I would consider it rather expensive, but for the offer price of 68 euros that I got it for a few days ago, I believe it is a fair purchase, if it has the reliability that my other PowerA controllers have over time (especially since I have spent around 40 euros on other Chinese Android gamepads and they turned out to be of poor quality - stick drift, buttons that no longer work, etc.)
Όντας απόλυτα ικανοποιημένος κάτοχος ήδη δυο PowerA χειριστηρίων εδώ και αρκετό καιρό, μπορώ να πώ ότι για άλλη μια φορά η εταιρεία δεν με απογοήτευσε. Εκ πρώτης όψεως φαίνεται ποιοτική κατασκευή (όπως πάντα βέβαια ο χρόνος θα δείξει,) και το χειριστήριο είναι συμβατό με σχεδόν τα πάντα! Υποστηρίζει DirectInput ΚΑΙ XInput (κάτι που με βολεύει εμένα προσωπικά πάρα πολύ γιατί παίζω τακτικά πολλά παλιά παιχνίδια στο PC -DX9 εποχής και πίσω, συνδέοντάς το ενσύρματα σε PC λειτουργεί σε DirectInput αλλά κρατώντας πατημένα τα START+SELECT εναλλάσει λειτουργία μεταξύ DirectInput και Xinput,) έχει διακοπτάκι που διαλέγεις λειτουργία σε bluetooth ή USB σύνδεσης, σε λειτουργία bluetooth αναγνώρισε το Nokia 8 android smartphone μου σε 2 δευτερολεπτα με την μία, (μην σας τρομάξει λοιπόν το κουτί απ' έξω που γράφει "για samsung"), δεν χρειάστηκε να κάνω επαναντιστοίχιση κουμπιών σε κανέναν εξομοιωτή που έχω (PPSSPP, My Boy κτλ.) όλα λειτούργησαν άψογα με την μία .
Κατά την άποψη μου τα δύο ωραία ατού που έχουν τα χειριστήρια της εταιρίας και υπερτερούν του ανταγωνισμού είναι τα εξής : πρώτον τα friction rings (στις εγκοπές των δύο αναλογικών στικ υπάρχουν δύο δακτύλιοι απο σκληρό πλαστικό που προσφέρουν μία έξτρα προστασία στην καταπόνηση του πλαστικού αναλογικού μοχλού όταν κινείται κυκλικά - όντως με τα χρόνια έχω παρατηρήσει ότι στα POWERA χειριστήριά μου οι αναλογικοί μοχλοί δεν είναι τόσο "φαγωμένοι" στην βάση τους) - και δεύτερο πολύ μεγάλο ατού για μένα είναι τα δύο έξτρα advanced gaming buttons (mappable) που έχει το χειριστήριο πίσω, στις λαβές του. Μπορείς να αντιστοιχίσεις όποιο κουμπί θέλεις σε αυτά, αλλά ανακάλυψα ότι, εάν κάνεις map σε αυτά τα κουμπάκια , αμέσως μόλις αγοράσεις το χειριστήριο, την λειτουργία "κουμπιού" που έχουν τα sticks όταν τα πατάς (το LS και το RS δηλαδή) , προφυλάσσεις το χειριστήριο σου από την μάστιγα της κατηγορίας τους, το καταραμένο stick drift! (ή δεν το παθαίνουν ποτέ, ή εάν το πάθουν , το παθαίνουν μετά απο χρόνια ) το stick drift έχει άμεση σχέση με το πόσο έχει "λιώσει" κανείς το LS και το RS...εάν αγοράζετε οποιοδήποτε χειριστήριο που έχει έξτρα mappable κουμπιά, κάντε αυτό και θα με θυμηθείτε...
Το χειριστήριο διαθέτει επίσης ενσωματωμένο power bank (!) το οποίο μάλιστα έχει διακόπτη ενεργοποίησης on/off και μπορεί να χρησιμοποιηθεί είτε να φορτίζει ταυτόχρονα το κινητό σας όταν παίζετε, είτε να δώσει ενέργεια στο χειριστήριο (περισσότερες πληροφορίες στο εγχειρίδιο χρήσης του , τα εξηγεί ωραία και απλά , δεν έχει στα ελληνικά όμως. )
Το μόνο σημαντικό αρνητικό που έχω βρει μέχρι στιγμής είναι ότι το χειριστήριο δυστυχώς δεν διαθέτει λειτουργία δόνησης! Αυτό δεν είναι κάτι που με ενοχλεί για το κινητό, αλλά εφόσον είναι συμβατό με directInput και Xinput, εκεί σίγουρα θα μου λείψει...
Στην κανονική του τιμή που είναι τώρα θα το θεωρούσα μάλλον ακριβό, αλλά για 68 ευρώ προσφορά που το πήρα πριν λίγες μέρες, πιστεύω είναι μία τίμια αγορά , εάν έχει την αξιοπιστία που έχουν και τα άλλα PowerA χειριστήρια μου σε βάθος χρόνου ( ειδικά εφόσον έχω δώσει 40ρια για άλλα κινεζικά android gamepads και μου βγήκαν της κακιάς ώρας- stick drift , κουμπιά που δεν πατιούνται πια κτλ)
