A manual of limited usefulness — suitable mainly for learning ideograms
In general, this book may prove useful to students who wish to learn the basic Chinese characters. However, its benefit seems to be almost exclusively limited to this field.
The chapter concerning the introduction to the Pinyin system is not sufficiently formulated. There are errors, such as the incorrect presentation of the sounds "b" and "d", where the author asserts inaccuracies regarding their pronunciation. At this point, I consider it preferable for the reader to avoid studying Pinyin through this book and to seek a more reliable and audio-based source, such as reputable online videos.
At the same time, the pronunciation rendering system proposed by the author — transcribing Pinyin into Greek sounds — creates confusion and may lead to incorrect pronunciation of vowels and consonants. The use of the authentic Pinyin system, as it is internationally recognized and taught worldwide, is certainly the most appropriate approach.
Furthermore, the reference to HSK 1-type vocabulary levels does not always correspond to reality. I recommend that students focus on the systematic learning of characters, without relying exclusively on the level references provided in this manual.
Finally, some translations of ideograms are rendered inaccurately. Indicatively, the ideogram "在" is rendered in the book as "inside, in", whereas the more correct translation includes the meanings "to be located" or "at, in, on" depending on the context.
In summary, this is a book of limited didactic value in terms of phonology and grammar, which is mainly suitable as a tool for memorizing basic characters of Chinese writing.
