Paladins of the West Kingdom is set in a turbulent era of the history of Western Francia, around 900 AD. Although recent efforts have been made to develop the city, the surrounding towns are still threatened by external enemies. The Saracens patrol the borders, while the Vikings plunder wealth and livestock. Even the Byzantines from the east have shown their dark side. As noble men and women, players must gather workers from the city to defend against enemies, build fortifications, and spread the faith throughout the land. Fortunately, you are not alone. With his great wisdom, the King has sent his best knights to assist in your efforts. Prepare the horses and sharpen the swords. The Paladins are approaching.

The goal of Paladins of the West Kingdom is to be the player with the most victory points (VP) at the end of the game. Points are gained by building outposts and fortresses, commissioning monks, and dealing with external raiders. Each round, players will recruit the aid of a specific Paladin and gather workers to perform tasks.
