The cooler was installed on a 7700K, a special processor known for its high temperatures at idle. Previously, I had the H60i, also from Corsair, but it started having issues with the pump after 7 years (5 of which were under warranty), so I replaced it proactively. I'm not an OC guy, so the cooler was purely for aesthetic purposes in the case and PC until I decide to install a custom loop.
The cooler comes with mounts for Intel/AMD AM4/AMD TR4, 2 ML120 fans, 2 front waterblock covers (white and black), and a Corsair 6-port RGB/FAN hub.
The installation is ridiculously easy, something you can do without even needing a screwdriver. One insignificant detail for many but important for me is the backplate, on which the WB screws for Intel attach. It has adhesive and sticks to the motherboard. Previously, it was in the air, causing me installation issues multiple times.
Now, it's plug and play. You install it, iCUE detects it, and then the party begins. The software provides all the detailed information you need. Temperatures of everything (even the coolant), pump and fan speed adjustment, with the ability to go down to zero fan RPM on PWM fans. The ML120 fans are generally quiet, but the pump has a paradox. In quiet and balanced mode, it's annoyingly loud, but in extreme mode, it's calm.
Overall, it didn't raise temperatures. With all fans closed and the pump on quiet, it barely reached 50 in a room at 30 degrees. So, with a similar GPU and a similar power supply with zero fan RPM, all you hear is the water in peace.
The hub cannot change the RPM of 3-pin fans, it can only tell you how much power it provides, which makes it useless and forces you to look for PWM fans on the market, and that's where the pain begins because a set of three Corsair RGB fans costs 100€, and since it has 6 ports and you already have 5 fans (3 essential case fans), you need a second hub, which is sometimes provided by Corsair, obviously, and you need it because on the one hand, an average motherboard has 3 case fan headers that are not enough, and on the other hand, it's good to control everything in one program, which is iCUE in this case. So, the whole thing puts you in a position to buy all the cooling equipment from Corsair, whether you want to or not, and it also gives you the idea that some of their cases come with a fan hub, so from initially saying you'll spend 100€, you end up wanting to spend 500€ without being a serious power user, just for RGB fans, a case, and a cooler, which is really a lot considering the cost of the rest of the hardware...
Η ψύκτρα μπήκε σε 7700Κ, ένας ιδιαίτερος επεξεργαστής αφού φημίζεται για την υψηλές θερμοκρασίες σε idle. Προηγουμένως είχα την H60i επίσης corsair που όμως είχε αρχίσει να έχει θέματα η τρόμπα μετά από 7 χρόνια (εκ των οποίων τα 5 σε εγγύηση) και έτσι την άλλαξα προληπτικά. Δεν είμαι OC guy έτσι η ψυκτρούλα πήγε καθαρά για ομορφιά στο κουτί και στο pc μέχρι να αποφασίσω να βάλω custom loop.
Η ψύκτρα έρχεται με mounts για intel/amd AM4/amd TR4, 2 ML120 , 2 καπάκια για το μπροστινο του waterblock (άσπρο και μαύρο) και ένα RGB/FAN hub 6 θέσεων της corsair.
Η εγκατάσταση γελοία εύκολη που μόνο το κατσαβίδι στο χέρι δε σου δίνει. Μια ασήμαντη για πολλούς αλλά σημαντική για εμένα λεπτομέρια είναι το backplate , πάνω στο οποίο κουμπώνουν οι βίδες του WB στην intel έχει αυτοκόλλητο και έτσι κολλάει πάνω στη μητρική. Προηγουμένως ήταν στον αέρα με αποτελέσμα να έχω πολλές φορές πρόβλημα στην σωστή εγκατάσταση.
Στο διαταύτα τώρα η φάση είναι plug n play. Τα βάζεις τα εντοπίζει το iCUE και μετά ξεκινάει το πάρτυ. Το λογισμικό παρέχει όλες τις πληροφορίες που θες αναλυτικά. Θερμοκρασίες των πάντων (ακόμα και του ψυκτικού υγρού) , και αυξομείωση εντασης τρόμπας και fans με δυνατότητα μέχρι Zero fan RPM στα PWM fans. Τα ML120 είναι αθόρυβα γενικά η τρόμπα όμως έχει το εξής παράδοξο. Στο quiet και balanced mode ακούγεται εκνευριστικά πολύ, στο extreme mode είναι ήρεμη.
Γενικά θερμοκρασίες δε σήκωσε. Με κλειστά όλα τα fans και τρόμπα quiet έφτασε με το ζόρι 50 σε δώματιο 30 βαθμων. Έτσι με μια ανάλογη GPU και ένα ανάλογο τροφοδοτικο Zero fan rpm το μόνο που ακους ειναι το νεράκι σε ηρεμία.
To hub αδυνατεί να αλλάξει RPM στα 3pin fans, μόνο να σου λέει πόσα δίνει κάτι που το καθιστά άχρηστο και σε βάζει στη διαδικασία να δεις τα PWM fans της αγοράς και εκεί ξεκινάει ο πόνος αφου μια τριάδα RGB της corsair έχει 100€ και επειδή έχει 6 θέσεις και εσύ έχεις ήδη 5 fans ( 3 ψύξης κουτιού essential) θες δεύτερο hub που σε ορισμένες περιπτώσεις παρέχεται στα corsair κάτι προφανώς και θες γιατί αφενός μια μέση μητρική έχει 3 case fans headers που δε φτάνουν ούτε για ζήτω και αφετέρου αφού έχεις είναι καλό να τα δουλεύεις όλα σε ένα πρόγραμμα που εν προκειμένω είναι το iCUE Η όλη φάση δηλαδή σε βάζει στη διαδικασία να πάρεις όλο τον ψυκτικό εξοπλισμό από την corsair θες δε θες και σου βάζει και το τυράκι ότι ορισμένα κουτιά της έρχονται με fan hub της εταιρίας οπότε απο εκεί που έλεγες θα δώσω 100€ φτάνεις να θες 500€ χωρίς να είσαι κανάς σοβαρός power user απλά για RGB fans , ένα κουτί και μια ψύκτρα που είναι πραγματικά πολλά αν σκεφτείς το κόστος του υπόλοιπου hardware....
