The D-Link DES-1016D switch connects devices in small offices and workgroups via 16 Ethernet ports at 10/100 Mbps. As an unmanaged Layer 2 switch, it automatically detects the speed and duplex mode of each connection and supports IEEE 802.3x Flow Control. It can be placed on a desk or mounted in a rack; the mounting kit is included.

The MDI uplink port enables connection to other switches to expand the network. Flow control is used in full-duplex mode, while back pressure is applied in half-duplex mode when congestion occurs. The switch dynamically allocates buffer RAM to the ports and uses the store-and-forward method.
