The Rega Planar 2 Gloss Red is a high-fidelity (Hi-Fi) manual belt-drive turntable, designed to deliver accurate sound reproduction while minimising mechanical resonance. It features a lightweight, exceptionally rigid plinth made from acrylic-laminated MDF with a glossy red lacquer finish, providing excellent structural stability. The hand-assembled RB220 straight tonearm incorporates Rega-designed low-friction bearings for exceptional groove tracking. The turntable is equipped with a 10 mm-thick Optiwhite glass platter, a quiet 24V low-noise motor with a new control board, and a pre-installed Rega Carbon moving-magnet (MM) cartridge.

Lightweight MDF Cabinet & Anti-Vibration Design

The Rega Planar 2 follows the company’s design philosophy of using low-mass, high-rigidity materials. The plinth is made from acrylic-laminated MDF with a Gloss Red finish, with the power switch integrated into the underside of the base for a clean aesthetic. The turntable rests on three redesigned anti-vibration feet that increase stability and dampen transmitted vibrations.

Rega RB220 Tonearm & Low-Friction Bearing

The turntable features the hand-built Rega RB220 9-inch tonearm, with a single-piece, ultra-low-mass aluminium tube. The tonearm incorporates newly designed ultra-low-friction bearings in a custom housing, ensuring virtually frictionless movement. It also features automatic anti-skating adjustment for easy setup and use.

24V Motor & Optiwhite Glass Platter

Motion is transmitted via the advanced EBLT belt by a quiet, low-noise 24V motor, paired with a new control board (PCB) to reduce vibration. The turntable features a 10 mm-thick "Optiwhite" Float Glass platter with improved manufacturing precision, providing high inertia and stable rotation, supported by a redesigned 11 mm-thick brass bearing housing.

Pre-Installed Rega Carbon Cartridge & Accessories

The Planar 2 comes factory-set with the Rega Carbon moving-magnet (MM) cartridge, which features a conical stylus and delivers balanced analogue sound across a wide frequency range. The package includes an acrylic dust cover and an integrated RCA connection cable.
