Korys chestnut honey is harvested from wild chestnut forests in the mountainous regions of Arcadia and Achaea, at an altitude of 800–1,000 m. It is produced from the nectar and honeydew secretions of the flowers and leaves of wild chestnut trees. It has an intense, rich flavour with moderate sweetness and a distinctive, lingering bittersweet aftertaste.
Its colour ranges from deep amber to dark brown or almost black, while its aroma is deep and earthy, with notes of smoke or wood. Its thick, velvety texture and natural composition help it remain liquid for a long time without crystallising easily.
