Το πάχος είναι μόνο για ηλεκτρικέςκιθάρες ή και ακουστικές, οι λεπτές πένες δίνουν πιό οξύήχο,οι σκληρές πιό θαμπό σε περίπτωση σόλων.. Σε περίπτωση ακοπανιαμέντων οι μεσαίες ή σκληρές προτιμούνται.
