Description

Description

He walked among us in Omonia, in the center of Athens, in the most bustling part of the city. "Where God had brought me," at the Polyclinic of Athens, amidst the pain of diseases and death. Thirty-three years "like a day"! Unnoticed by the many.

The Professor of Medicine, K. Alivizatos, told him: "My priest, we didn't see you, we didn't know you. Wow, we've had you for so many years and we didn't know you!" From the difficult desert of Kausokalyvia, God sent him to the world, to His "lost sheep," to us!

He brought the light of Christ to the brothels - "our priest." He also wanted to go live with the hippies in Matala, of course without any sins.

"What we read in the Synaxaria, in the Lives of Saints, and we are amazed, we lived it, it was happening next to us." His words were sweet, profoundly theological, poetic, like a novel. A continuous surprise. We rejoice in his words!

His remarkable gift, a unique case, the fruit of immense struggle. "The signs of his holy life are legacies for our entire generation"! A lot of light was sent to us within the darkness where we live. "The light of his star has not yet reached us. We have not understood his word." The cool spiritual breeze of his presence has already begun to blow!

The great crowd is waiting for Saint Porphyrios!

He walked among us in Omonia, in the center of Athens, in the busiest part of the city. "Where God had brought me," at the Athens Polyclinic, amidst the pain of illness and death. Thirty-three years "like a single day"! Unnoticed by most. The professor of Medicine, K. Alivizatos, told him: "Father, we did not see you, we did not recognize you. Oh, oh, oh, for us to have you for so many years and not know you!" From the rugged desert of Kausokalyvia, God sent him into the world, to His "lost sheep," to us! In the brothels, "our own priest" brought the light of Christ. He even wanted to go live with the hippies in Matala, though of course, without sinning. "What we read in the Synaxaria, in the Lives of the Saints and are left amazed, we lived, they happened right next to us." His words were sweet, deeply theological, poetic, like a novel. A constant surprise. We rejoice in his words! His amazing gift, a unique case, the fruit of immense struggle. "The signs of his holy life are legacies for our entire generation!" Much light was sent to us in the darkness in which we live. "The light of his star has not yet reached us. We have not understood his words." His refreshing spiritual breeze has already begun to blow! Many people are waiting for Saint Porphyrios!
