The optical design includes a series of aspherical and low-dispersion elements, which reduce various distortions for improved sharpness and clarity. Individual elements are also multi-coated to withstand reflections and ghosting, offering greater contrast and color accuracy in bright or backlit conditions.

Complementing its optics, this lens features a One-Touch Focus Clutch mechanism for quick switching between AF and MF settings, while an internal focusing design is used for quick focus response.
