In which islands of the Dodecanese is apricot called that and in which quince or peach? In which islands of the Dodecanese is mind called (e)myalos and in which island is it called nous or kaïkalon? How is cloud called in each island? The feminine article in the accusative plural is τις, like in the standard Modern Greek, τας, like in Ancient Greek, and in which islands is it τες, as already attested in medieval texts? Many questions like these find their answers in the pages of this book, which, together with the "Linguistic Atlas of Crete" by N.G. Kontosopoulos, are the only linguistic atlases that have been compiled and circulated for the Modern Greek language and its dialects. Almost unknown, unfortunately, in the Greek reality, linguistic atlases are very useful tools for the study of dialect phenomena of a language or a region, as they accurately record linguistic forms and their geographical distribution. In the Linguistic Atlas of the Dodecanese, Konstantinos Minas presents in 343 colored maps a total of 44 phonological, 49 morphological, 4 syntactic, and 246 lexical phenomena, based on the answers he received from informants from 51 islands or locations in the Dodecanese.
