This part is essentially consumable, because it breaks at the point where it locks into the coffee machine.
The last ones I bought lasted longer, but this particular one came with a problem right away: the "tongue" it has at the locking point with the coffee machine was faulty and would unlock when the machine built up pressure for the coffee.
I saved it by replacing this small part with the one from the previous one that had broken in another spot, but if I hadn't done that, I would have had to throw it away.
