Useful Information:
- There are many different ways to cover or bandage a wound. The doctor or nurse will choose the best option for your wound.
- Simple wounds that are not infected should remain open to dry and heal. Others require moisture to improve healing.
- The wound will be thoroughly cleaned as dust and dirt can cause infection. This can be done with tap water.
- In some cases, an X-ray may be required to check if glass or other foreign objects are embedded in the skin.
- If a wound has a lot of dirt and debris, the doctor or nurse may need to clean it and leave it open for two or three days.
- Scrapes should be well cleaned and, depending on how deep they are, may require a bandage.
- Some wounds heal better if the edges are held together. The wound can be closed with special dressings, clips, sutures, or special glue.
- It is possible to use hospital glue for the treatment of simple cuts, as it is quick and painless.
