In this book, we have a methodical presentation of modern Greek common language, the unified language that we speak and write today. It is a study of the structure of contemporary Modern Greek discourse, with a descriptive analysis covering all levels of its linguistic functioning - phonological, morphological, syntactic, semantic, stylistic - based on an original collection of material, gathered by the well-known English scholar of Modern Greek, Peter A. Mackridge, for the sake of this study in Greece: excerpts from texts of various written genres, as well as live examples from direct recordings of spoken language.

Greek scholars and specialists have appreciated the contribution of the English author to the study of the Modern Greek language and its presentation to a wider foreign audience.
