Chateau Lagraviere had already gained a reputation for its exceptional terroir since the 18th century. In 1850, the Chateau was purchased by Madame Arnaud Ricard, who added the name Malartic to that of Lagraviere, as a tribute to the former owners.
Gaining an excellent reputation, Chateau Malartic-Lagraviere was one of the six estates in Bordeaux that entered the Pessac Leognan classification in 1953 for the reds, and in 1959 for the whites.
Today, the Chateau is owned by the Bonnie family. It is one of the most significant Chateaux of Pessac Leognan, a region in the southeast of Bordeaux and on the Right Bank of the Garonne River.
