- It cannot be sprayed directly onto the surface! Use the black matte plasti dip as a base (6 good “coats”) for the ideal result!
- When the temperature is low, plasti dip® may not spray evenly because it freezes. The best we can do is place the spray can in warm water for 5-10 minutes or warm it near a radiator. This softens the mixture inside and gives us the smooth result we want.
- Before proceeding to paint a car or motorcycle with plasti dip®, it is best not to have previously applied any wax or polish, as there is a chance that plasti dip® will not adhere properly.
- Never paint a car or motorcycle if it has recently been factory-painted. At least one year should have passed to avoid problems with the varnish.
- When you want to create a stripe on a surface for a straight line, you should remove the tape at the sixth “coat” (enough to have a good result) while the plasti dip® is still wet. This is because plasti dip® has the property of liquefying again when sprayed over an already painted surface. If the tape is removed after drying, it will ruin the straight line created.
- When spraying, always hold the spray can or gun perpendicular to the surface. The distance should be 10-15 cm.
- It is best to spray in a place without wind because the air may carry the material and dry the mist on areas where we do not want it. This causes the surface at that spot not to be smooth but have a sandpaper texture.
- Always clean the surface well before painting and make sure there is no moisture in grooves or crevices.
- During cold periods, each “coat” needs more time to dry.
- You can wash your car or motorcycle about 10 days after spraying without worry, even with a pressure washer. At first, you should be a little more careful. Over time, plasti dip® becomes very strong. We recommend applying the special Dip Protect wax approximately every one and a half months.
- The ratio of thick plasti dip® to thinner for spraying with a gun is 1:1. There is also a diluted plasti dip® spray now available, which has much better composition, coverage, and durability and is sprayed directly.
- To spray plasti dip® properly, the spray gun should have a 1.5-2mm nozzle, low pressure (1.5-2 bar), be able to spray in a vertical open fan pattern, and allow control of the amount because the first “coat” should be light to form a base (about 50% coverage). The following 6 “coats” should be rich.
- At least 6 good “coats” must be applied, especially for large surfaces like a car, to be able to remove it in big pieces easily when desired.
- Never wash with active foam widely used in car washes. Use only simple soapy water.
- Be very careful with gasoline. Contact with plasti dip® can cause it to fade. It is good to inform employees at gas stations.
- High Gloss Top Coat: Apply 3 good “coats” for the ideal result. Leave about 30 minutes between each “coat.” Spray quickly with the gun to avoid dripping. The smoother the plasti dip® underneath, the greater the reflection of the high gloss top coat.
Plasti dip is liquid rubber in spray form. Its uses are endless. It seals, insulates, adds color, and protects cars and motorcycles. It is non-slip and a surface enhancer, cable and pipe insulator. It protects against corrosion, offers dielectric coating, and has many other applications!
The revolution in car painting! You can paint anything from your rims to the entire car as long as you clean the surface first. No sanding required. If you get tired of it, simply remove it without any damage to the car's paint! It withstands pressure washing and comes off only when you want it to!
Refresh your car easily and quickly!
