Description & Specifications

Widely known to the global audience for his great works, Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky also has another, less known side, that of a columnist and commentator on the contemporary political, social, economic, and cultural realities surrounding him.

This aspect of his creative work is illuminated through the articles, comments, columns, and essays that he published from time to time, both in the daily and the periodical press of Russia during his long presence in the letters and arts of this great northern country.

Among the countless thousands of pages that were published under his name in newspapers and magazines of his time, a special place is held by the texts included in the well-known "The Writer's Diary," which has been familiar to readers in other countries besides Russia for years. These texts were initially published as separate chapters in the magazine "Citizen," something like an "appendix," if we were to use the terminology of our time, or something like a "magazine within the magazine," according to the terminology of the author's time.
